Honouring the longstanding tradition of Cherry Blossom Viewing – a tradition at the Japan Mint that stretches back to 1883 – this set comprises six Japanese legal tender coins from 1 Yen to 500 Yen. Struck to impeccable Brilliant Uncirculated standard, the six coins are united with a 4.3 gram silver medallion celebrating the Year of the Horse. Depicting a horse on the reverse, the obverse of this special medallion features letters representing ‘Cherry Blossom Viewing’ as well as cherry blossom petals depicted with latent image technology. When viewed from different angles, different cherry blossom petals appear!

Protected for the long-term within an acrylic case, the set is housed within a sleeve depicting the Osaka Blossom of the Year, Gyoiko. Characterised by yellowish green flowers and a vertical crimson line appearing in the middle of the petal as it blooms, Gyoiko (“御衣黄”) is a very rare variety of cherry tree.

Whilst enchanting, eye-catching and official, the 2026 Cherry Blossom Viewing Osaka Brilliant Uncirculated Coin Set is perhaps most notable for the limited availability – especially for international audiences. So popular is this annual issue in Japan, the Japan Mint only allows a tiny number to leave the country. In this case, the mintage is 33,000, but only 742 sets will leave Japanese shores!
