Japan 2026 Cherry Blossom Viewing Proof Coin Set
Underpinned by exquisite Proof quality, and highlighted by a unique, superbly designed Silver Medal, this official Japan Mint 6-Coin Set is perhaps most notable for the strictly limited availability. Only 239 sets will leave Japanese shores!
Honouring the longstanding tradition of Cherry Blossom Viewing – a tradition at the Japan Mint that stretches back to 1883 – this official issue comprises six Japanese legal tender coins from the 1 Yen to the 500 Yen. Struck to Proof standard, the six coins are set within an acrylic case, housed within a sleeve depicting the Osaka Blossom of the Year, Gyoiko – a very rare cherry tree bearing yellowish green flowers, highlighted with crimson.
The perfect complement, each set also features a one-year-only medallion, struck from 20 grams of sterling silver. Measuring 35mm in diameter, the obverse of the medallion is distinguished by a full-colour depiction of Gyoiko, surrounded by cherry blossom crests. The reverse portrays a court woman of the Heian Period, as the word Gyoiko refers to the robes worn by aristocrats of the time.
A prestigious tribute to a grand Japanese tradition, the 2026 Cherry Blossom Viewing Osaka Proof Coin Set is to be enjoyed by the privileged few – especially outside Japan. So popular is this annual issue in Japan, the Japan Mint keeps virtually the entire mintage for the domestic market. Indeed, out of a mintage of 12,000, only 239 examples of this stunning Proof Set will leave Japan!
